OUR SWEET BOY
Well, Ben continues to grow up (imagine that!) and we just marvel at all the ways he continues to become a little man. He is so joyful and playful, and really starting to understand the world. Just yesterday, Ben starting nodding to tell us "yes" ... it is so wonderful. And just yesterday he also found the inside of his nose. Oy!
Ben is such an athlete. He LOVES baseball! We were out to dinner with Grandpa Scott, and there was a tiny TV on the other side of the room that had baseball on, and Ben found it and shrieked with joy. As you can imagine, my Dad is pretty excited about that! He can sit for an hour on Grandpa Marso's lap and watch a Twins game. It is fun to watch Ben find such a passion to share with both his Grandpas!
And what is Ben's favorite item of clothing? His baseball hats! He really gets angry when we take them off him - I think he would wear them to bed if he could. He gets in the car, looks at himself in the mirror, and starts moving his mouth (to mimic talking) and smiling to his head-covered image. So cute.
Ben is also becoming so much more communicative. He really lets us know what he wants and doesn't want, and he is beginning to seem to understand reason, however much that is possible. He still might have a fit, but we always seem to come to an understanding. The other day, Ben was standing on the rocking chair that his Uncle Matt made for him. After telling him 3 times to sit down, I took the chair away, and put a screaming Ben on my lap to explain why he couldn't stand on the chair and why it wasn't safe. I put the chair back and asked Ben to show me how to sit on it, and he grabbed a book, went to the chair, and plopped his behind right on it. I was so proud of him. I'm sure we will still continue to have the same conversation over and over again, but I know he gets it.
And the other thing about Ben that makes me so proud? His dance moves!! He loves loves loves to dance. Whenever music is playing, Ben is moving..... unless someone he doesn't know is watching :). It is so precious. His favorite song? Probably Call Me Maybe right now. it has a good beat, and Ben can MOVE!
We are having such a fabulous summer. We have seen all the Grandparents, spent time with friends, and had a blast exploring the cities. And we have some fun times to look forward to! Here are some of my favorite pictures so far from this summer:
