My baby is not a baby anymore...

Well, my little baby boy has turned one year old, and I can no longer call him a baby. I am humbled and amazed that I could have such a wonderful little man to call my son. I cannot begin to tell you all how wonderful Ben is, and how lucky Patrick and I are to have him.

1st year appoint stats:
Height: 30.5 inches, 75th percentile
Weight: 21 lbs 12 oz, 30th percentile
Head Size: 19 inches, 90th percentile

Yes, our little guy still has a Marso head. But he is also going down in %ile for weight, but the doctor attributes that to his early walking. We are just going to keep enticing him with new foods!

Here are some milestones that Ben has reached:

1. Ben is walking. He is walking forwards and backwards. He is walking FAST. He sometimes even runs. It is amazing!
2. Ben can stack blocks! He has stacked up to 4 at a time. He also loves playing with the stackable rings, and other big 'puzzles'.
3. Ben can throw a ball very far. He has always loved throwing overhand, and has quite an arm! We are especially proud of his aim and force.
4. Ben LOVES to dance! We have dance parties almost every night. He claps, bounces, puts his arms in front of him up and down, waves them around, and giggles. Favorite song? The hip-hop Itsy Bitsy Spider. :)
5. Ben loves his stuffed animal dogs. He drags them around, cuddles with them, and gives them kisses. And they are twice as big as he is!
6. Ben loves books. He turns pages, recognizes pages, and points to things we ask him about.
7. Ben eats.... okay! He likes avocado, blueberries, bananas, yogurt, and turkey. He likes bread and Cheerios and mandarin oranges. Yesterday he ate strawberries!

Benjamin is truly an independent thinker. He can be stubborn, and always knows what he wants. I think it frustrates him that he can't always tell us, but he does a good job of pointing and using 'key' words. For example, 'na-na' is banana, as well as every other food. He says Greta "Deh-ta", and also calls every dog he sees Deh-ta. When Ben wakes up in the morning, he is so good at just playing in his crib until we come get him. What a sweet child!
That being said, Benjamin is also VERY gentle. He touches things softly, and can be cautious in new situations. He tends to have big wide eyes, and takes everything in before getting completely comfortable. But he is always so friendly. He loves other kids, and is so gentle with them.
Benjamin is SO funny too. We have little inside jokes that I can't even write about, but I will always remember them. He is such a special little guy, and I love him SO MUCH! Patrick and I are going to a B&B this weekend for a late birthday present, and this will be our first night away from Ben. I am so sad about it, but I know Ben and my Mom will have a great time together!

Happy 1st Birthday, Benjamin Leo Marso!

Cousin Eden and Me

Cousin Eden and I get along really well. She loves watching me, and we love spending time together. After some pool time at my party, we got to hang out a little before bath time. Look at how much we adore each other!!

Ben's Baby Beluga First Birthday!

For Benjamin's first birthday, we had all our friends and relatives meet us at the watermark in the Holiday inn in Lakeville for an incredibly fun day!! The kids swam, and there was a great kiddy pool with fountains, as well as a huge slide for older kids. We had a blast in the water, and we wore the kids out with playtime. We had a great lunch, and dove in to a phenomenal whale cake! Then Patrick, Ben, and I stayed overnight there, and we swam and played and swam!

A kid after my own heart....
